What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. “Similar technologies” can include local storage, pixels, or scripts that remember preferences or measure activity. See also our Privacy Policy.

How we use consent

When you first visit, you may see a banner with Accept all, Essential only, and Customize. Your choice is stored in your browser (localStorage) so we remember it on return visits. Until you accept optional categories, we do not load non-essential analytics or marketing scripts (such as Microsoft Advertising UET) on this site.

If you clear site data or use a different browser or device, you may need to choose again. You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies—strictly necessary features may not work if you block all storage.

Types of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

Required for basic operation and security (for example remembering your consent choice, load balancing, or fraud prevention). These do not depend on optional consent where the law treats them as strictly necessary.

Typical retention: session or up to 12 months for consent records, depending on implementation.

Analytics (optional)

If you opt in, we may use first-party or third-party tools to understand aggregate traffic (for example which pages are viewed). We only enable these after consent.

Typical retention: as configured by the analytics provider, often months; you may reset by clearing cookies.

Marketing / measurement (optional)

If you opt in, we may use tags such as the Microsoft Advertising Universal Event Tag (UET) to measure advertising effectiveness and conversions. Microsoft’s practices are described in Microsoft Advertising’s privacy policy. UET is only loaded after marketing consent when implemented on this site.

Typical retention: per Microsoft’s documentation and your browser settings.

Third-party cookies

Embedded content (for example YouTube videos) may set third-party cookies when you play or interact with the embed. Those cookies are controlled by the third party; review their policies for details.

Managing cookies

  • Use our banner: Accept all, Essential only, or Customize to toggle analytics and marketing.
  • Use browser controls to block or delete cookies site-wide.
  • For interest-based advertising, consider industry opt-out pages listed in our Privacy Policy (DAA/NAI)—effectiveness varies by technology and region.
